Is this gold bounce a trap? XAUUSD weekly forecast November 2 to November 6 '26

Gold Closed October Below $4,000. Every Bounce Now Faces One Question.

Gold closed the week — and the whole month of October — at 3,875, below the 4,000 mark and deep in the red. That changes how every bounce from here has to be read: is it a real recovery, or a trap set to catch buyers right before the next leg lower?

That's the question driving this week. Today's map shows exactly where the next major support sits, the one level that would tell us the bears are finally done, and how the dollar, euro and silver each feed into gold's next move — into a week where US midterm elections on Tuesday will push volatility right through the middle of it.

DXY - Dollar Index

The dollar is bouncing, and that's the headwind on metals right now. Price is pressing the local resistance at 102.28–102.58, but the detail that matters is on the lower timeframes: the dip after the fake breakout found support and sellers failed to print a new low. Nikkhil doesn't expect a deeper retracement from here.

The trigger is 102.60–102.70 — a break and hold above it (the 78–85% zone of the prior leg down) opens targets at 102.61, then 103.22, with a bigger magnet around 105. The support that keeps that bullish read alive is 101.69; lose it and the deeper pullback runs to 101.18, then 100.69. Base case: the dollar grinds higher, which keeps pressure on gold near term.

EUR/USD

The euro's bullish attempt stalled. Nikkhil had been watching for buyers to reclaim and push toward the 1.1405–1.1435 resistance magnet, but on the lower timeframes they couldn't print a high above resistance — the attempt failed, and that level now caps price.

The line that decides it is 1.1221: while EUR/USD holds below it, the expectation is continuation lower toward the next magnet at 1.0925. A break and hold above 1.1221 flips that and reopens the retest of 1.1405. For now the euro is leaning down — the mirror image of the dollar's bounce, and a useful cross-check on it.

XAGUSD (SILVER)

Silver reached exactly the 49.39–49.81 magnet zone Nikkhil flagged last week — but unlike the plan some were hoping for, the bearish momentum hasn't faded. There's no bullish divergence and no sign of reversal; the selling pressure is still strong.

The levels: resistance overhead at 53.50–54.09, and a fair-value gap just above current price. If buyers break and hold above the 49.39 gap, a bounce toward 51–51.50 is possible before price rolls over again. If they can't, continuation lower opens 48.15, then 47.16, then 46, with the next real magnet down at 42.88. Until silver shows a divergence and reclaims its structure, every bounce is to be sold, not bought.

XAUUSD (GOLD)

Gold's slide has been relentless, and the structure is still bearish with no exhaustion signal yet — lower highs, lower lows, strong selling into Friday's close. The prior target at 3,922 has already been breached and now flips to resistance. The major resistance magnet overhead sits at 4,138–4,170.

The level that governs this week is the fair-value-gap barrier at 3,940–3,950. While gold holds below it, that zone adds pressure and pushes price lower — so any bounce that stalls there is a continuation signal, not a bottom. On the downside, the next extension is 3,843, with magnet support at 3,794–3,780 (and the deeper 3,824–3,818 zone the immediate target), then 3,700 if it extends. Nearer in, 3,906 and 3,954 are the intermediate resistances to watch on any bounce.

The one level that changes the whole picture is 4,032: gold has to break back above all the fair-value zones and reclaim 4,032 for a genuine reversal. Until then, the pressure stays on and bounces are to be treated with caution — don't mistake the trap for the turn.

What to Watch This Week

  • Tuesday — US midterm elections: the catalyst, with the market reaction playing out through midweek. Expect volatility and let it settle rather than trading the first spike.
  • Gold 3,940–3,950 and 4,032: the gap barrier that keeps pressure on while it holds, and the reclaim level that would signal a real reversal. Downside targets: 3,824–3,818, then 3,794–3,780, then 3,700.
  • Silver 49.39 and 53.50–54.09: the gap that decides a short bounce to 51–51.50, and the resistance above. No reversal signal yet — bounces are sells toward 48.15, 47.16 and the 42.88 magnet.
  • Dollar 102.60–102.70 and EUR/USD 1.1221: the dollar's breakout trigger (bullish toward 103.22, a gold headwind) and the euro's line (below it, down toward 1.0925).

Coming up: the midweek live is on — Nikkhil returns Wednesday to check whether these levels are holding or the plan needs adjusting after the midterm reaction.

One note for viewers in India: Nikkhil has launched a dedicated Nifty channel with weekly Nifty analysis in Hindi, released 9am India time every Sunday.

The month closed deep in the red, gold is pinned below 4,000, and the pressure stays on while it holds under 3,940. The discipline this week is to respect that — don't chase bounces into resistance, watch 4,032 as the level that would genuinely flip the picture, and let Tuesday's election reaction show its hand before committing. As Nikkhil signs off — trade the plan, not the prediction.
